Glass is mainly divided into two categories: flat glass and deep-processed glass, among which there are three main types of flat glass: lead-up flat glass (slotted and non-slotted), flat-draw flat glass and float glass. Deep-processed glass is processed from flat glass and has a wide range of applications. If you want to know how to judge whether a red wine glass is glass or crystal, and how to choose a glass, come with me.
1. How to judge whether a red wine glass is glass or crystal
(1) Seeing: During the formation process of natural crystal, it is often affected by the environment and always contains some impurities. When looking at the sun, you can see faint uniform and small horizontal stripes or catkin-like substances. Fake crystals are mostly inferior. Crystal slag and glass slag are smelted, polished, colored and imitated, without uniform stripes and catkin-like substances.
(2) Tongue licking: Even in the dog days of hot summer, licking the surface of natural crystal with tongue will feel cold and cool. Fake crystal will not feel cool.
(3) Lighting: Natural crystals are placed vertically under the sunlight, no matter from which angle you look at them, they can emit beautiful brilliance. Fake crystals cannot.
(4) Hardness: The hardness of natural crystal is high, so use a gravel to gently scratch the jewelry without leaving traces; if there are streaks, it is a fake crystal.
(5) Check with a polarizer: Turn 360 degrees under the polarizer, and the four bright and four dark changes are natural crystals, and the ones that do not change are fake crystals.
(6) Check with dichroism: natural amethyst has dichroism, fake crystal has no dichroism.
(7) Check with a magnifying glass: Check with a tenfold magnifying glass under transmitted light, and those who can find bubbles can basically be regarded as pseudocrystals.
(8) Check with the hair: put the crystal on a hair, the human eye can see the double shadow of the hair through the crystal, it is a natural crystal, mainly because the crystal has birefringence.
(9) Test with a thermal conductivity meter: adjust the thermal conductivity meter to 4 grids of green to test the gemstone, the natural crystal can rise to 2 grids of color, while the fake crystal does not rise, and when the area is large, it will rise to 1 grid of color.
